WTF??? June 30, 2007

Isn’t this an oxymoron?

an oxymoron?

And this is day 18 of the rain in Oklahoma. It’s raining now. Maybe that’s where the “sanitary sewer” thing comes in?

Naaaaah….

Your Heart is Feeling Hopeful

For you, love is a feeling that’s been growing and blooming.

Whether you’re in a relationship that’s deepening or found a new love, your feelings are slowly changing.

You’re remembering how amazing love feels - and discovering emotions you’ve never felt before.Deep down, your heart is susceptible to: Getting a little carried away

Your current outlook on love: Optimistic and playful

Your love life will improve if you: Stop and reflect on how your love is changing

Watch out for: Falling too hard, too fast - you’ve got to let your sweetie catch up with you!

What Is Your Heart Feeling?

That’s all from where I sit.

Will Rogers said that if you don’t like the weather in Oklahoma, just wait and it will change… but, just when will that be? June 28, 2007

This is the 16th day in a row it has rained, and there’s no end in sight.

=====

I’ve got homework, but it’s not due til Monday. There is no school tomorrow, so I can obey that urge to sleep in. How much you want to bet I will wake up automagically at 7:30am like I do every morning.

I’m not a betting person myself…

Someone in Oklahoma won a huge jackpot in the lottery, but hasn’t come forward yet. I sure could use the $80 million or whatever it was that they won. I’d get the Beretta fix AND buy a new car! LOL :) (more…)

You have to know which battles to fight and which to forfeit. Today, knowing the difference between a fight you can win and a fight you can’t win is crucial — you can’t afford to waste more energy on a person who’s never going to come around to your way of thinking. There’s nothing left to debate — it’s time to agree to disagree. Going around this obstacle will take a lot less energy than trying to get rid of it.

=====

I know a lot of people who will never “come around to [my] way of thinking”. I have to concentrate all my energies on school, homework, and those in my life who aren’t trying to battle me at every twist and turn in the road.

And right now, I’m tired of the battles. Why can’t I lay my sword down and rest?

You’re doing fine, Oklahoma… June 27, 2007

According to the news, we broke a record today for the most consecutive days of rain. We’ve had 15 days in a row of rain, breaking a 70 year old record.

Turn off the rain, y’all!

Enough with the rain already! Sheesh! June 26, 2007

When it rains it pours… no pun intended.

What the hell is going on here in Oklahoma with the rain? This is the most rain I’ve seen since I’ve lived here. Parts of the state are flooding. We’ve now had more rain in the first six months of 2007 than we had in all of 2006.

I’m worried about the flood control ditch near my apartment on the other side of the I-40 overpass. When it rains, it raises the water level. It’s nowhere near flooding its banks, but if the rain keeps up the way it has, it just might.

The parking lot in my complex floods when it rains hard. I’ve seen it come up over the curbs. I’m waiting for it to flood the cars parked in the parking lot, including mine. If that happens, there’d really be no point in getting the water pump replaced.

This really concerns me. Last summer, we had a 77 county burn ban, it was so dry. This summer, we may need to gather the animals two by two and build a friggin ark.

Looks like I’ll have to spend money to take cabs and buses to school this week. I didn’t want to do that, because money’s so tight, it squeaks.

Maybe I can bum a ride from someone…

Stupid rain…

This will be a very expansive day. Expect to find yourself even more in sync than usual with someone close to you. Happy, sad, mellow or hyperactive, you both are on the same wavelength, which makes for good times and learning opportunities. Your friends have a greater influence on your life than you might give them credit for, and you need to appreciate this fact. There is nothing wrong with relying on someone else to cheer you up, so don’t feel bad about it.

Speaking of my dad… June 25, 2007

Filed under: family, life, school — Stef @ 9:39 pm

Every time I go into the library at school, I see this picture hanging on the wall:

larrynutterwithstefinreflection.jpg

This gentleman is Larry W. Nutter, one of the former presidents of Rose State College. The Administration Building is named after him. This picture caught my eye originially because Mr. Nutter kinda reminds me of my dad. Dad wore those same kind of aviator style glasses for years. Dad and Mr. Nutter don’t look anything alike, but I thought that the glasses thing was interesting. I wish I had a pic of Dad scanned into my computer so I could post it for comparison. I’ll have to find one at Mom’s the next time I’m there.

If you look in the lower right corner of this picture, you can see my reflection in the glass as I was taking the pic with my camera phone.

That’s all from where I sit.

Now I know what Dad went thru…even if it’s only temporary June 25, 2007

Filed under: family, life — Stef @ 12:32 pm

Last night, I discovered that I can barely hear out of my left ear.

I must have some kind of (ewww) wax build-up that I need to address in a hurry. In my math class today, I thought Kalea was asking me to spell “Chinese food”, instead of her saying she smelled Chinese food…

It’s driving me nuts.

My dad was deaf in one ear due to a jeep accident after WWII which ruptured his eardrum. Now I kind of know what he went thru during the last half of his life.

And it’s a little late to commiserate, now, isn’t it?

Guess I’ll have to take advantage of the “family discount” and have Dean check my ear and remove any wax that may be in there. I kinda need to hear, don’t I?

That’s all from where I sit.

Weekend madness! June 24, 2007

The Cox bill got paid. Yay!

While I was out running around in Edmond yesterday, I decided to get a few other things done, such as cut my hair.

The woman at Great Clips who cut my hair had blue hair. She was not a grey haired woman with bluing in her hair, her hair was bright BLUE! She did a great job on the hair cut though. Pix to follow, because it doesn’t look so hot at the moment. No pix of the blue haired stylist though.

All the boys got their picture taken yesterday afternoon (which Jeff paid for). Seems that their dad wants a pic of them as they look now.

My question is why does Jon want a pic of the sons he’s pretty much ignored over the last 5 years? Does he want to brag about the four fine young men he fathered? The reason they are fine young men has nothing to do with Jon. If what Hillary Clinton said during her husband’s Presidency is true, it takes a village to raise a child. Jon was not living in that village. Me, Mom, Tori and Dean did all the hard work.

On to a more pleasant subject… (more…)
