I love this song! I was surprised that there was a video.

Hah! I’d like to meet his tailor!

Boobs… October 31, 2007

I thought that might get your attention. And, no, we’re not talking about mine, thankyouverymuch.

What I am talking about are the girls here at school who wear these really low cut tops that really show off ones, uh, attributes. I know they’re only trying to get some guy’s attention. Sometimes, the attention is the kind that is not wanted.

And, I try not to look, but sometimes, it’s so blatant, you just can’t help but notice. And that’s what they want… people to notice. I want to go up to one of them and tell them to keep their boobs to themselves. It’s almost November… aren’t you cold?

I try to keep covered up most of the time. I do the low cut top thing at home, in private. I’m a little old to be flaunting my middle aged boobs at some poor unsuspecting guy. I get so tired of men talking to my chest, like there isn’t a person attached to it.

I may be blessed (or cursed) being well endowed, but that doesn’t make me stupid. I’m more than just a great rack. Get to know me! I have a brain and I know how to use it.

And, because it’s like slightly above freezing in the Lab, I’m almost bundled up like an Eskimo. I’m about ready to pull out the hat and gloves next. I already have on the heaviest sweatshirt I own.

I’m keepin’ ‘em warm, cowboy ;)

That’s all from where I sit.

BlogFriday: a problem has occured October 31, 2007

UPDATE 31 October: “Problem” is the word for this week’s BlogFriday, and there was this earlier in the week:

Submissions for the word ” close on Thursday 1st January 1970 at midnight GMT.

A problem has occurred.

On January 1, 1970, I wasn’t even allowed to stay up til midnight, in any time zone. I was still about 6 weeks away from my 6th birthday at the time.

I’m sure Jonathan is aware of this (since he’s like 6 hours ahead of me here in Oklahoma) and will have it figured out and fixed in no time.

So, I will wait patiently. Or try to at any rate. Patience is not something I do well these days. I’m still patient, I just don’t have the patience of Job anymore.

Tricks… no treats October 30, 2007

That’s how this week is going so far. And it’s only Tuesday.

I feel really dragged out, like I’d been run over by a Mack truck. Standing out in the cold last night waiting for a cab didn’t help much. Last night was the first time I’d put on the heat since the end of last winter. It was toasty warm, and combined with NyQuil and chai, I was out like –that–!

Good thing I didn’t have an early morning class. I’d have never have made it.

The photography prof was out sick, so I spent those couple of hours in the library and taking pictures (not taking pictures in the library, just to clarify…).

Now I have to go get some info about a video project I volunteered for and go to workstudy. Then it’s a bus ride half way home. Might get home at a decent hour tonight.

Might.

You should be dancin’… Papelbon! October 30, 2007

Jonathan Papelbon’s going to dance… if you can call that jig he does “dancing”. No matter, the man’s going to dance, dance for the Red Sox faithful today at noon ET (11am CT… boo! I’ll be in class!) during the victory parade. I’ll have to catch it on the internet after the fact. I hope someone films the whole thing!

I wish I could be there!

Look at what I found at Mom’s this weekend October 29, 2007

I was in the second grade when this was taken.

I was seven years old.

I totally forgot about that gap between my teeth where my permanent front teeth were going to be. I think the next year, it closed up.

I was going to email this pic to someone, but thought perhaps that all of you can enjoy it as well. The person I was going to send it to reads the blog anyway. :)

Damn… October 29, 2007

I just broke a promise I made to myself on Friday.

I wasn’t, WAS NOT, going to do something I do too much of. And then I went and did it anyway.

What the hell is wrong with me today? I can’t even keep a promise to myself.

=====

In Comp II, I got back an essay the class was assigned that was due like three weeks ago. The prof was not very happy with us, because we seemingly didn’t grasp what was discussed in class. I got a “B” on mine, and the mistakes I made were stupid ones, and I should have known better.

Now, we’re writing essays comparing two poems with the same theme. A thesis statement and an outline are due Wednesday. I’ve written the thesis statement, now I have to do the outline, and that’s usually the hard part, whether it’s for an English Comp II essay, or for writing a short story. My outline for my unpublished novel was in the neighborhood of 30 pages. It took three months to write it.

So one for an essay should be a piece of cake, right? Not really. Just shorter.

=====

Today is October 29th. I was thinking about this today while waiting for my ride. Seventeen years ago on this date, shortly after I learned that I was expecting Scott, I went to work for the Call Center That Shall Remain Nameless (aka “The Q” –a queue is a line, right?–) as holiday help. They liked me so much, they hired me on permanently, and I stayed with them for nearly a decade, until I left Virginia in July of 1999.

=====

Still happy that the Red Sox won the World Series! I wonder when the parade will be and will it be broadcast on the web? I’ll check the Boston Globe’s website…

=====

There’s Thanksgiving stuff out at the stores. I can’t believe it’s almost November.

=====

And after Thanksgiving, is Marc’s birthday (Dec. 5th). It’s NOT going to sneak up on me again this year. For cryin’ out loud, the kid’s almost 14, you’d think that by now, I’d know this.

Stef’s Horrorscope: the “Red Sox sweep” edition October 29, 2007

Aquarius (1/20-2/1 8)

One thing is for sure today — you are not going to be bored! But that doesn’t necessarily mean that you day will be jam-packed with fun activities, engrossing projects or interesting adventures. Right now, your brain is in a very receptive phase, and will be able to find something to keep itself occupied nicely. Even if you’re stuck on a plane all day (Stef: yeah, right LOL), you’ll be content and smiling. This is a good day to think through complex ideas and formulate plans for the future.

I fixed a leak in the back tire with carpenter’s glue… and other nonsense October 28, 2007

I was running around yesterday in Mom’s van, and someone pointed out that the rear right tire was getting pretty flat. I went to put air in it and it was fine… for a while. Then the same thing.

When I put air in it again this morning, I saw where the slow leak was coming from: a nail or something is imbedded in the tire and air is leaking out around it. I could actually hear it escaping! To take the nail out would ruin the tire, so I left it there.

Then I thought if I could somehow plug up the hole so that air would stop escaping for a while, then that would give Mom some time to get a new tire. So I slathered carpenter’s glue that I found in the garage on it and hoped for the best.

I drove back to my apartment, and it seems to have worked. I no longer heard air escaping from the hole. Time will tell if this will buy Mom the time she needs to get the money and get a new tire.

 =====

No matter how hard I try, the house key will not start the van, and the van key will not open the front door. I seem to be doing that a lot lately.

=====

Boston is up 3 games to none in the World Series with the Colorado Rockies. A win tonight will give the BoSox their second World Series in three (oops, sorry!) four years. Last nights game was a good one, but the boys from Beantown prevailed with the help of Dustin Pedroia and Jacoby Ellsbury– both rookies! Of course, Jonathon Papelbon closing and giving Dice-K the win is great, too!

=====

I am so screwed! I have a video project due tomorrow, and it’s not going to get finished in time. I could cop out and say the events of the previous week, both private and school-related, were to blame. But in the end, the only person I can blame is myself.

=====

Still working on memorizing that Dylan Thomas poem. I’ve got about half of it down pretty well, but I still need to work on it. I have no idea when I’ll have to perform it in front of the class. That’s not been decided yet.

=====

Better get back to the books.
