I walked down to my friendly neighborhood WalMart this morning to use the ATM to get cab fare. I call the cab and am told it will take 15-20 minutes for it to get there.
So I’m watching the parking lot for a yellow car. What catches my eye however is a big blue pickup. When the pickup turns down one of the rows, I see a blue car.
It’s a Saturn. A blue Saturn.
Blue.
Saturn.
Naaah, couldn’t be….
I looked at the driver of the Saturn, and it was someone I know very well. I wave and he pulls up to where I am and asks what I’m doing (as if he didn’t know).
“Waiting for a cab.” I said.
He offered to take me to school, so I try to call the cab company back, and the recording kept saying my call will be answered “by the next available operator”.
I’m on my cell for the short drive to Rose, and talking to my friend at the same time. I’m still holding to talk to someone to cancel the cab.
Finally I hang up. He drives up to the front of the administration building and we chit chat for a few seconds, then I get out and he goes along his merry way.
Just as I reach the top of the steps leading to the entrance to the Admin building, my phone vibrates. It’s the cab driver, wondering where I am. I told him I’ve been on hold with the operator trying to cancel it.
After I get the cab mess straightened out, I decided that today was going to be a good day, no matter what.
That’s all from where I sit.
