There’s something about my sister’s house that makes me so sleepy.
Anyway, Daniel came to fetch me around 10pm on Saturday night (after I called him that morning to ask him to come get me) and I spent the night at Mom’s house.
The next day, we went over to Tori and Dean’s for Easter Lunch… we had corned beef (”and now for something completely different” went thru my head), homemade bread, a ton of veggies, and salad. It was good, but I was still hungry about two hours later.
Amalia and Joey went to hunt Easter eggs after the “Easter Bunny” called and told their mom that there were 55 eggs in the front yard. One egg had money in it (and the older kids lamenting that they were too old to hunt eggs). Amalia found the egg with the money (all of $5, but that’s a lot to a 9 year old), and Joey was still looking for the one egg that hadn’t been found. Turns out that it was on the bumper of Mom’s van, and wasn’t discovered until we got ready to go to the “dirt”.
Tori and Dean are having a new house built (they’ve had the land for like 5 years now), and we all went over there to see the progress on the house (it looks like a house, but it’s far from finished). There is a lot of dirt there, and getting dirty seemed to be a must.
I took a lot of pictures for my photography class while I was there. Jeff, Scott and Marc even consented to have their pictures taken, and they hammed it up appropriately. Amalia found a pile of dirt in the “backyard” with a wooden dowel stuck in it. The dowel was about 6′ tall and had a piece of sheet metal stapled to it like a flag, so Amalia stood on the dirt pile and claimed it in “the name of Amalia”. I took a picture of that. It was cute. If it looks halfway decent when I process the film, I’ll mount and frame it and give it to her parents.
I didn’t finish the roll of film though. I think I had 4 exposures left when we finally left the construction site (which has an actual street address!). Shortly after we got back to the house, Mom wanted to go home. Jeff decided that he wanted to go home, too (he usually stays and Dean brings him home later). Daniel missed everything because he had to work.
Mom, Jeff and I were still hungry after we got back to Mom’s house, so we went to IHOP near UCO for dinner.
Daniel was supposed to take me home after he got off work, so when he finally did get home, it was apparent that the last thing he wanted to do was to take his mom home to her apartment in the ‘hood, so he went to Tori’s to use her computer to put songs on his iPod.
I ended up spending another night at Mom’s… and the rest of that story is in the previous post.
Next weekend, it’s Jeff and Dean’s birthdays (both on 3/30) and Joey’s is the 31st. That may turn out to be a big birthday bash because both Amalia and I had the flu on our birthdays last month and didn’t get to do the family dinner thing then.
That’s all from where I sit.
