(get in on it here)

I see the sadness in your eyes

I noticed it almost immediately

You trusted me with your friendship

And I would never betray that trust.

You build your walls so high, so that no one can get in

Yet you allowed me entrance.

Why did you open the doors to me?

What special place did I touch to grant me such access?

Please, let me take the sadness out of your eyes

I’d give almost anything to do that for you.

But please keep the doors open for me-

Because somewhere in your heart and soul

You find me worthy.

That’s all from where I sit.

Westboro, Sally, free speech, and yours truly… God Bless America! March 14, 2008

Today, the fine (*koff wheeze*) folks from Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas were protesting at the gates of Tinker, saying stupid shit like military people are cursed by God. An airman killed his two kids, then himself, a few weeks ago in base housing. It was a domestic dispute. They think it was a “higher power”.

Now these nutcases are back (though not at funerals. That law is still on the books) with their ”God hates America” and “God hates Fags” placards, talking to anyone who’ll stick a microphone in their face and talk their version of what they say is God’s Truth. And how do they know this? Do they have face to face convos with the Almighty Himself?

Somehow, I seriously f’n doubt that.

=====

Oh, and we have our own home grown whackjob… her name is Sally Kern. She’s an Oklahoma State Representative, and she gave a speech where she says that the public schools are trying to indoctrinate kids into the “gay lifestyle”.

Say WHAT?

She also says that homosexuality is a threat to America just like terrorists are, and are like a cancer that spreads.

Oh, PLEASE!!

I’m more afraid of Osama Bin Laden than I am of all the gay people I’ve ever known.

Okay, she’s entitled to her opinion, but she’s a lawmaker, and her personal beliefs and politics should never be discussed in the same venue.

So, what’s your problem, Sally? Oh, yeah… you think that children as young as 2 years old are being indoctrinated to believe that the so called “gay lifestyle” is acceptable. Is that why you think some people are gay? Newsflash! It’s probably not.

Lady, if I lived in your district, I’d move. You don’t speak for me.

I’m not gay, I don’t even know what the “gay lifestyle” consists of. I know what homosexuality is. It doesn’t bother me. I do have gay friends. So what?

If Ms. Kern can’t represent ALL the people of her district, she shouldn’t be representing ANY of the people of her district. Period.

/end rant

=====

Ain’t free speech grand…? These people with their religious fanaticism have the right to say what they want, right or wrong, and I have the right to call them whackos and nutjobs on my blog.

Just remember… you’re free to say whatever you want, that doesn’t mean I have to agree. I’m free to say whatever I want, that doesn’t mean you have to agree. Get it?

Like it or love it, tell me so by leaving a comment, k?

That’s all from where I sit.

EDITED 1837 CDT 032208: Rep Kern’s son has denied rumors that he is gay. He states he is “celebate” but not gay. I removed the parts of this post that dealt with this. My apologies to Mr. Kern. I should have been more diligent. My disagreement is not with him, it’s with his mother.
