I was out for a little bit today, and I passed by this little convenience store on the corner of S.E. 15th and Vickie Drive. They sell everything you’d find in a little corner store.

Or, rather, they did. Turns out that the building has been condemned as of this last week, and the store is closed. Permanently, as it may turn out.

The City of Del City has condemned the building at 1601 Vickie Drive as “unfit for habitation”. And it certainly looks like the owners left in a huge hurry, as when I peeked thru the windows, there was trash, soda cans, and all kinds of junk on the floors.

The doors have this neon orange tape around the doors and a notice that states that occupation is unlawful. If the tape and the notice are breached, the city would know.

It almost seems sad that someone lost their livelihood by the store closing. Or maybe that the building was on the verge of collapse. There isn’t really a local newspaper that details those things here. Was probably mentioned in the “My Mid-Del” section of the Oklahoman, but since I don’t get the paper (just another expense I can do without), I didn’t know.

It’s not like I frequented that store much. It kinda gave me the creeps.

Still it’s sad in a way.
