Bor-ing!
I finally get home from Mom’s house, thinking that I’m going to have this nice, quiet, sane holiday weekend; no kids, no worries… just me, myself, I and cleaning up my apartment.
Then the phone rings. Chaz’s number appears on caller ID, and I knew that when I answered it, my sane and quiet weekend would be history.
He comes and gets me, on the pretext of looking at apartments. Instead, we do things like go to the store, the bank, and his apartment. I subsequently become hooked on a show on the E! channel called “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”. There was a whole marathon of this show all weekend. It wasn’t a bad little show.
Before that, though, Chaz and I had our “trying to find a TV Guide” excursion. Except for the one in the Sunday paper, it seemed that no convenience store or neighborhood market in Chaz’s neighborhood had the actual “TV Guide” magazine.
We happen on the Paseo Arts Festival by chance during all this, and I honestly thought that Chaz wouldn’t be interested in seeing displays of art (we’d gone to the Downtown Arts Festival weeks before, and he liked that all right). Next thing I know, we’re looking for a place to park.
People who lived near the festival site were charging anywhere from $3-6 for the privledge of parking in their yards. It was like Norman during OU home games. We finally found one, for free no less, just steps from the main action. So we park there, get out and walk around the festival for a while.
I was a little disappointed in the whole thing. All the food was overpriced, the drinks were anywhere from a buck (for bottled water) to $4 and $5 for beer. And while the art was nice, a lot of it was really expensive! I wouldn’t be picking up any trinkets for my apartment on this run.
On top of all this, it was hotter than hell. I think it was like in the mid-90’s. I didn’t even realize I was sweating until Chaz pointed it out to me. By that time, we’d both had enough. We headed back down to the car and went back to Chaz’s place.
This morning, Chaz and I had a talk about where things were going with us, and we both agreed to give things time and take it slow. We’d still spend time together, just not as much. Then we went to the VA hospital so Chaz could make an appointment to get his shoulder looked at. He thinks he’s aggrevated an old sports injury.
So, here I am. Back at my place. Friday, I’m going up to UCO to attend a transfer enrollment session. By the time I leave, I should have my class schedule for the fall and my UCO student ID.
And a t-shirt.

Jeff has been riding his motorcycle pretty regularly now, and believes that it needs a new something or other. He thinks that the engine needs an overhaul, because he can’t seem to get it to accelerate to the 45 mph speed limit on Danforth.
He’s not looking forward to that… getting the bike looked at.
Jeff has even saw fit to name his motorcycle. He calls it “Sora”. He tells me that “sora” means “sky” in Japanese. The bike IS blue, after all, so I see the logic in that.
Daniel calls his car “Coby”… short for Cobalt I suppose.
They come by it honestly. Their mother, after all, had a car called Babydoll.

(”Ketchup” in this case has nothing whatsoever to do with the condiment made from tomatoes, spices, sugar and vinegar)
Marc’s graduation Thursday evening was very nice, if a bit lengthy and boring at times. After what seemed like an eternity, Marc’s full given name was called, he got his diploma, and then they had to call the rest of the class of all of 41 graduates.
Scott, who was sitting next to me, spent a good deal of it texting his friend Sara(h). She’s the girl Scott took the high school winter dance in December. I asked him if he was THAT bored, and he said that he was.
I attempted to video the ceremony, but Scott wouldn’t shut up, so the recording was pretty much fouled by his non stop commentary (most of which was not even about the ceremony his brother was in).
Dean only had to take Joey out twice during the whole thing. Joey, like Scott, has the gift of gab, even if he does refer to himself quite often in the third person.
After the ceremony was over, Marc wanted to go to Ted’s Escondido (a local Mexican restaurant), but Amalia didn’t want to, so Marc suggested Olive Garden instead. It’s amazing how much sway my 9 year old niece has over her older cousins.
So, we all went to Olive Garden, ate too much, and went home. I spent the next two days at Mom’s, then I finally convinced Daniel to take me home this afternoon.
*sigh* Marc is now a member of the Edmond Memorial Class of 2012. Where did the time go?
Of course, Scott duly informed Sara(h) of this fact via text.

Out the door again… I said this was a busy week, didn’t I? LOL
I’ll play catch up later. I hope!

Now, I’m no seer into the future, but I can tell you that this will be a busy week, mainly because Mom has scheduled all her doctor and dentist appointments this week and it looks as though I’ve been drafted to act as taxi driver to get her to and from said appointments.
Not that I mind, but I do have to make time to find a job. Kinda hard to pay bills and find a new place to live with no funds until late August.
And, Marc is graduating from the 8th grade on Thursday evening, so I have to go to that, and again, I have to get there.
Geez… Marc will be in high school next term! I still remember him as the smiley little boy he was when he was a toddler. Time flies…
*sigh*

The two places I’ve been in the most in the last couple of months don’t have internet access, so keeping up with things like IMs, email, and this blog get a bit, um, complicated.
Mom’s house doesn’t have any computer anything since I moved out a year and a half ago. Daniel and Jeff were supposed to pony up the cash to get internet in their name, but have yet to do so. Therefore, I can’t drag the laptop over there to do anything, unless I want to go to the public library or the Chambers Library at UCO.
Chaz has cable television and his phone thru the local cable company, and offered to get internet service just for me, but I’ve had the internet thru the cable company, and I didn’t particularly like it. So I can’t get the internet there either, unless again I go to the public library branch in his neck of the woods.
And, looking toward a move back to Edmond to go to UCO, I need to be able to transfer the service I have now. But that’s a few weeks away yet.
Other than that… it was hot today.
This is what the rest of the summer will be like. Hot, rainy, or a combination of the two.
Oh. Joy.
I need to go to bed.

sorry about the snarky IM from my phone today. By the time I realized it was you, you passed me.
This is the first single off Disturbed’s new CD “Indestructible”, which will be released on June 3rd. Some of you may be bothered by this video’s content, and the warning that starts it off attests to this. If the subject matter (suicide) is not something you want to see, or want your children to see, please don’t click on the link.
There will be a number for a suicide hotline at the beginning and the end of the video. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please call the number listed. There will be someone on the other end to help.

At the moment, I don’t have any, but that didn’t stop Larry from suggesting a few, such as:
I know he’s only trying to help, and I appreciate that. As much as I’ve been crabbing about a vacation, it’s Larry who needs one more. With fuel costs the way they are, no one’s going anywhere too far from home (so I guess that trip to Dallas Chaz wanted to take with me is out of the question. But, you never know).
Didn’t stop my sister and brother in law from taking all my kids, their kids and themselves to the Bahamas next month. Mom didn’t want to go, and I wasn’t even asked. And, my passport is expired anyway. I’m not even sure where it is, though I suspect it’s in Massachusetts with the rest of the stuff Jon was supposed to send me years ago, and pleaded poverty on.
Instead of Dallas, maybe Chaz and I could go to South Padre Island instead.
Naaah… gas is too expensive, remember?
Back to the weekend… I’ll just have to get a paper and see what’s going on around the metro. I need to get out of my apartment occasionally and live life.
