Stef’s Crazy Life

The (mis)adventures of me. Kids, kin, cars, life, love, pain and the whole damn thing! (any questions?)

Rain, rain, and more rain, a dead cell phone, and crappy cable fare May 8, 2008

I inadvertantly spend yesterday at Chaz’s apartment. I was only going to go over there on Tuesday after my last final to have dinner, but ended up spending the night. Of course the next day, it was raining, and Chaz really didn’t want to go anywhere or do anything, and that suited me just fine.

While I was there, my cell phone battery died, and dummy me, didn’t bring the charger (again, I wasn’t expecting to spend the night). So, I was incommunicado for about 24 hours. Since I’ve had a cell phone, I’ve not liked not being able to be reached, in case of emergencies (especially since I moved to Oklahoma, with Mom might needing assistance;  though that hasn’t happened– yet.)

Anyway, I spent the night and it rained all day yesterday, and we were watching TV most of the day. Chaz thankfully has cable, so there was a wide variety of stuff to watch. Most of it wasn’t worth a damn… like

“Parental Control” (MTV or VH1- don’t remember which one)– girl meets guy. Girl’s parents HATE guy and try to find someone better for their daughter. Each parent interviews and chooses a suitable replacement for the loser their girl is seeing. Girl goes on date with each of her parents’ choices, then has to choose between them and her current flame. Most times, no one is happy. There was a whole marathon of this garbage… sheesh!

North Carolina/Indiana primary results and analysis (ALL the freakin’ news channels)– In case you missed it, Obama won North Carolina and Hillary barely won Indiana. There are calls for Hillary to hang up her Presidential aspirations and support Obama’s candidacy against Republican John McCain. Hillary is having none of it. She’s going to keep going until there’s a clear winner. Even if she has to lend her campaign millions of her and Bill’s moolah to keep it alive. Now I don’t know if it’s mathematically impossible at this point for Hillary to keep going, seeing that she has to win the remaining primaries by 20% or more (according to some news outlets), but maybe she should entertain the possibility of being Obama’s veep (yeah, like she’ll accept that!)

There were a few good things on TV though… “The Pride of the Yankees” for one. I’d never seen it (though I did know the story of Lou Gehrig’s storied career with the Yankees and the disease that claimed his life that now bears his name). Chaz kept telling me “this is a true story.” I had to keep shushing him up. Okay, hon, you saw this movie, but I didn’t, so hush now.

And, “High Noon”… I hadn’t seen this one either, and Chaz kept his mouth shut during this one.

Apparently, there was a Gary Cooper film festival on Turner Classic Movies.

So that was my last couple of days: spent with Chaz, watching TV, and having a dead cell phone. It was nice to sleep in my own bed last night.

That’s all from where I sit.
