Stef’s Crazy Life

The (mis)adventures of me. Kids, kin, cars, life, love, pain and the whole damn thing! (any questions?)

Chaz’s taxi service? May 12, 2008

With gas prices the way they are, I almost feel guilty asking Chaz to take me anywhere.

I had a bunch of things to do Friday, and the only way I was going to get them all done was to ask Chaz to take me there.

So I called him, and asked nicely, telling him that if he has other plans (he didn’t), or if he wasn’t up to it or something (he was), then I’d understand. He asked me how I was going to get anywhere if he didn’t take me. I told him I’d just go over to Rose to pick up my last workstudy check, sell back my books, and run local errands. I’d find a way to get to UCO another time.

Of course, he said he would, as he had nothing better to do, and we agreed on a time for him to come over.

For the first time since I met him, he was late. He called and told me so, so he didn’t leave me hanging.

He finally arrived, and we got started.

We did all the Mid-Del stuff, then we headed up to Edmond to go to UCO so I could attempt to get something done there.

We went to the University Center (aka the “UC”), since that’s where the admissions office was.

At admissions, while Chaz was checking other things out, I spoke to the rudest person about my transcripts (she said they got them in the mail some time ago, implying “well what took you so long getting here”), but I hadn’t gotten an acceptance letter. She told me one had been sent out to the address on the forms in a rather snotty voice. I asked if another one could be sent and she said she’d look into it. Then she told me I had to go to the Health Center and get an MMR and a Hep B shot. I knew that those shots would cost $150 and I didn’t have that kind of money on me, and I didn’t want to ask Chaz to pay for it (after all, he’s not going to start classes here, I am). I’m going to ask Dean if he could give them to me instead, then fax the documentation to the Health Center per their instruction.

Since there was nothing Admissions could do for me at that point, my trip to UCO was done. Now I have to wait for the acceptance letter to arrive. Again.

After we left the campus, I took Chaz out to lunch at McAlister’s, which he was quite pleased with. I’m sure that the gal who took our order though he was my father (and yes, he is old enough to be), but I don’t care. I just like the man’s company.

I’d like to say that Chaz took me home after all that. He didn’t though. He took me back to his place with him. Then, he brought me home.

That’s all from where I sit.

Your mind will be focused on the future right now, and it’s a very good time to get things started — the more ambitious, the better! Seek out something today that brings you some sort of mental or physical challenge. Someone close to you is excited about what they’ve been working on, so talk to them and find out how you can get your own new adventure started off on the right foot. They have some ideas that might seem far-fetched, but they will work.
