Well, we should have expected this, so why are we so freakin surprised?

Yesterday, July 4th, Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant, who was a freer agent after this past season, decided take his skills to another team.

The team? The Golden State Warriors. The same team that eliminated Thunder in the semi finals after they blew a 3 games to 1 lead. So in essence, Durant jumped ship and went to the one team he couldn’t beat.

If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em?

Durant has made no secret that wants to be on a championship team, and felt that the Warriors was the best fit for him.

Personally, I think this is a stupid move on his part. Why? Because instead of being THE star of the team, he’ll be playing second banana to Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond “right in the Kiwis” Green. I hope that KD can handle that.

And though I’m disappointed, I’m not really surprised by this move. Durant wants a ring, and he was willing to take a pay cut to go to the Warriors.

Meanwhile, OKC has a young, hungry team. They’re ready to work toward getting into the playoffs next year. Unfortunately, we no longer have Serge Ibaka after he was traded to the Orlando Magic for three new guys. But the Thunder still has Russell Westbrook until next year. And, unless Sam Presti trades him, we should be all set.

Since the announcement of Durant’s decision yesterday, it’s all anyone can talk about! People are even burning Durant’s jersey! Real mature, right? The folks in Cleveland did the same thing when LeBron James left the Cavaliers for Miami several years ago.

It’s not the end of the world though. Durant had 8 incredible years here in OKC, and did a lot of great things for the city and the state of Oklahoma. People seem to have forgotten that part. It seems to me that we, as fans, pinned our championship hopes on one guy, and now he’s gone.

There are still plenty of other guys on the team who need the fans support. I’m behind them 110%. I’m still going to Thunder Up. Still going to wear my Thunder gear. Still going to watch the team play. Nothing’s changed there. There will be new faces and familiar names. They’ll need our support. OKC has an awesome team. Let’s prove all the naysayers wrong and come out stronger than ever behind the Thunder.

It’s the least we can do.

Now if we can get that kind of support for our teachers, that would be icing on the cake.

I’m Stef and this is where it’s @ !~
