The damn meds aren’t working

I don’t feel any better than I did this time last week. But then again, I’m not feeling worse than I did this time last week.

I’m still having the dry cough, and the trouble with breathing. I get exhausted just walking from the living room to the kitchen. Today, I went from the recliner to the couch and thought I was going to pass out!

I’m sleepy all the time, and I have no appetite to speak of. I had to choke down a bowl of ramen because I felt full. I know this isn’t normal for me.

I’m still waiting on the pharmacy to refill my diuretics, because they had to call the doctors at Nazih Zudhi to get approval. Meanwhile, I’m retaining fluid, and that’s not helping the pleural effusion I have in my right lung.

This entire month has been one big clusterfuck for me. Being sick, money coming in late- which made my rent late to the tune of $170 above and beyond my rent payment. I had plans for that $170, thank you.

I don’t want to have to go back to the ER because this bronchitis morphed into pneumonia or something. This is ridiculous!

Pardon me for being frustrated. I just don’t like being so sick I cannot function properly. I’ve got stuff to do, dammit all!

Take a deep breath

Early Monday morning (2/13/17), I finally decided to find out why I was having so much trouble breathing, and so I had Daniel take me to the ER.

To make a long story short, I have bronchitis and pleural effusion (fluid around the lungs). As soon as they took the x-ray, I knew that’s what they were looking for. So I was not surprised to hear it (I was more surprised at the bronchitis diagnosis, tbh).
After a couple of hours, I was given some prescriptions and sent home. I had Jeff drop off the prescriptions at Walgreens (because CVS no longer has a contract with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma). Daniel picked them up after Dean paid for them, because I’m essentially broke. At least, that’s what I understood.

One of my bronchitis meds is albuterol. In an inhaler that I have to use twice a day as long as symptoms persist.

Then I got what’s known as a “Z-pak”. That’s supposed to help with the infection. Then some heavy duty cough syrup that knocks me out.

Meanwhile, I keep my butt at home while working thru all this crap.

Happy happy joy joy…

I hope this isn’t an indication of things to come for this year.

Fifty three never looked so good 😝

The weight

I’m sick. How sick, I have no idea.

All I know is that it is hard to breathe, but it doesn’t feel like pleural effusion. It feels more like I have a thousand pounds of concrete sitting on my chest. It feels worse when my 5lb. cat Salem sits on my chest. Usually, because he’s so light, it doesn’t even bother me. It does now.

I ran out of meds last week. I go to renew my prescriptions with CVS, and it turns out that Blue Cross Blue Shield OK doesn’t have a contact with CVS any more. And not one word from BCBSOK regarding this. So now not only do I need meds, I have to transfer my current prescriptions to another pharmacy. I’ve used Walgreens, so I think I’ll transfer my prescriptions to them.

So now, I need to get over this whatever I’ve got and get back on my meds, stat.

I may be making a trip to the ER sooner rather than later.

Food for thought

I found this by chance in an article that mentioned Martin Luther King, Jr., posted by his daughter, Bernice on her Facebook page “Be a King”. I am passing it along as a word to the wise.

  • 1. Use his name sparingly so as not to detract from the issues. I believe that everyone, regardless of their beliefs, deserves the dignity of being called by their name. However, this is a strategic tactic. While we are so focused on him we are prone to neglect the questionable policies that threaten freedom, justice and fairness advanced by the administration.
  • 2. Remember this is a regime and he’s not acting alone;
  • 3. Do not argue with those who support him and his policies–it doesn’t work;
  • 4. Focus on his policies, not his appearance  and mental state;
  • 5. Keep your message positive; those who oppose peace and justice want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their darkest policies will grow;
  • 6. No more helpless/hopeless talk;
  • 7. Support artists and the arts;
  • 8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it;
  • 9. Take care of yourselves; and
  • 10. Resist!

Keep demonstrations peaceful. In the words of John Lennon, “When it gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the system’s game. The establishment will irritate you – pull your beard, flick your face – to make you fight! Because once they’ve got you violent, then they know how to handle you. The only thing they don’t know how to handle is non-violence and humor.”
When you post or talk about him, don’t assign his actions to him, assign them to “The Republican Administration,” or “The Republicans.” This will have several effects: the Republican legislators will either have to take responsibility for their association with him or stand up for what some of them don’t like; he will not get the focus of attention he craves; Republican representatives will become very concerned about their re-elections.

We are living in dangerous times. We have a narcissistic, xenophobic, sexist, Hitler wannabe in the highest office in the land, put there by people who swallowed his lies hook, line and sinker. He does not have the best interests of the country at heart; just his own bloated self importance. He shoots down people who disagree with him; he trots out people to spew so called “facts” which are lies and half truths; he puts unqualified and inappropriate people in positions of power; he is not, I repeat, NOT making America great again. It was already great. He’s alienated our allies and crawled into bed with the likes of Putin and Erdogan. Personally, I think he’s bordering on insanity and should be removed from office
But that’s just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

Donald Trump has been president for two weeks, and he’s already lost me.

I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and see what he’d do in his first 100 days… but 15 days in and I’m convinced he’s a couple sandwiches short of a picnic.

First there was him bitching and moaning about the crowd size at the inauguration. He was convinced it was bigger than the turnout for Barack Obama in 2009. Trump’s press secretary Sean Spicer then reiterated that it was the biggest turnout ever, when photographic evidence contradicted that claim. Then Trump’s mouthpiece Kellyanne Conway came up with this new term for what is basically lying: alternative facts.

Then there’s Trump’s rampant use of Twitter. I think he has no business on Twitter, especially now he’s the president, but apparently, no one in Trump’s inner circle can tell him no.

Then, just when things were getting ridiculous, he signs this executive order barring people from seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the US, claiming it was keeping America safe. Apparently, the ban included those who held visas and US citizens. And Trump insists it’s not a “Muslim ban”. Um, yeah, it is. Fortunately just the other day, a judge out in Washington state put a restraining order on the executive order. Well that pissed off Trump enough to insult this judge stating he would fight to order from this “so called” judge.

Then Kellyanne is back with some bullshit story about the “Bowling Green Massacre”. She actually said that most people probably never heard of it because it wasn’t reported. Could that be, Ms Conway, because it never fucking happened?

She got all kinds of crap on social media about it, then head the audacity to say it was “an honest mistake”!

And Trump still wants to build that damn wall on the border with Mexico! For all the money that could possibly cost, the US could help the homeless, the poor, veterans, and still be able to give every American adult money to boot.

Oh I forgot, he also pissed off the Australian PM during a call about an agreement that was made with Obama to take in 1200 refugees they have. It was also reported that he bragged about winning the electoral vote… to the Australian PM! Then hung up on him.

Dear world: yes, we know our new president is a dick. Most sane people here can’t stand him. The people who do support him think he’s doing a great job… and are just as delusional as he is.

I’m not going to stand idly by and watch him destroy our country. He’s bound and determined to run the USA like one of his businesses. He doesn’t care about being president, he just wants to line the pockets of him and his rich cronies.

God help the USA…
