The kid sticks out like a sore thumb

or, I saw Larry’s son while I was driving down Boulevard this afternoon.

I mean, how could you NOT notice a young man with long red hair? Getting into a little blue car?

And this was after Larry told me that Ryan, Ryan’s girlfriend, and Larry’s wife were in Edmond today looking at apartments. I never in a million years thought I would actually see them. I don’t even remember what apartment complex I saw them at. I was just driving down the street in Mom’s car when I saw Ryan out of the corner of my eye.

I doubt very much he even remembers me.

=====

I wonder what will happen first: I’ll get my grade for Future News or I get my financial aid money for taking summer classes.

Saturday is Scott’s 19th birthday. He wants to do something that day. He also managed to convince his job to let him take all of this week off!

Damn, nineteen. Wasn’t he just in Kindergarten yesterday?

I’m getting old…

I’m Stef and this is where it’s @ !~

I survived my first week at UCO… go me!

Only 15 more weeks to go.

Of course, I have homework this weekend. A lot of reading, but at least I got Plato out of the way! Plato is heavy stuff, I’ll tell ya.

So is the Early Renaissance. Not as heavy as Plato, though.

One thing I do realize from this first week is that I have to get my big bodacious backside moved to Edmond. I’d rather take the bus than have to use Mom’s van and spend the night on her couch during the week.

I have a few possibilities on that front (the finding an apartment in Edmond). I don’t want to say anything more because I don’t want to jinx it.

Chaz asked me how I liked my first week of school, and I told him that it was okay, that’s it’s not going to be a cakewalk, and it’s nothing like Rose State!

Then he asked me if I wanted to see a movie this weekend. After my homework was done, of course.

That’s all from where I sit.

Ketchup: the “school starts tomorrow and I’m scared to death” post

Yes, yes, I know… it’s been 4 freakin’ days since the last post.

AUGUST 14: I went to orientation at UCO. If I had known that I’d spend 5 hours playing games requiring more flexibility than I have at age 44, I wouldn’t have gone. It wasn’t anything like I expected at all! It was all geared towards true college freshmen, ages 18 and 19. I felt like the oddball. I could have saved $50 done something else on Thursday.

AUGUST 15: I spend most of this day looking for apartments, running errands for Mom, and fielding phone calls from Daniel’s girlfriend.

AUGUST 16: I finally got my financial aid money, and Monday, I have to buy more books. Oh. Freakin. Joy.

I also went and kinda sorta surprised Chaz at his place. I spent about three hours there, and we talked and did other stuff (mostly watching the Olympics).

School starts tomorrow.

eep!

Larry once told me that what scares me about new experiences is the unknown. I have to remember that. I do want to succeed at UCO and I do want to get my Bachelor’s. It’s going to take a lot of hard work, encouragement (always welcome, BTW), and stamina. I’ll be happy if I can walk from one class to another without feeling like I’m going to die. UCO is considerably larger than Rose State!

I’m at Panera Bread in Edmond at 15th Street and Bryant, freezing my ass off. On top of all that, I have a cold.

Lovely.

That’s all from where I sit (it says in the fine print).

The “I’m not going to pull my hair out, even though I want to” post

School starts in 5 days.

I still need to move.

So, what am I still doing here? Can’t look at any apartments in Edmond unless I’m actually in Edmond, now can I?

So later today, I’m going to Edmond to do just that. And go to orientation tomorrow.

=====

The other night while I was at Chaz’s apartment, Saon called my cell phone. I couldn’t talk, and told him so. He said he’d call me the next night.

Which he did, and by that time I was back at my apartment.

What he called to tell me was that at the end of this month, he’s selling his cab and taking a job driving a truck. Apparently, the truck driving gig pays more money, gets him out of New Orleans (or wherever in that area he’s now living) for days at a time.

He’ll be driving to other states, probably including Oklahoma at some point. He hinted at the possibility that he might try and come see me if he finds himself in OKC.

And if he thinks I’m just going to drop everything to go see him, including school, he’s sadly mistaken.

I’m really sorry that his marriage is a sham, and that he’s not happy, but I can’t be worried about that. He’s made his choices, and he has to live up to the obligations he’s taken on. His life and whether he’s happy is not my problem anymore.

=====

Chaz was here until 1:30am this morning playing on LimeWire. I practically had to hit him over the head to get him to get that I was too tired to stay up any longer, because telling him didn’t seem to sink in.

It seems that all he comes over here for anymore is to download music. He probably needs to get his own computer because the laptop is coming to school with me.

And, BTW, I really hate Church’s chicken.

=====

When I get older, not wanting to do anything but hang around the house all day, watch TV, and eat… in other words, when I get boring and predictable, please someone shoot me!

That may work for Chaz, but I can’t see myself turning into my mom and not giving a crap about anything. Life is worth living, and that’s what I want to do… LIVE!!

=====

Marc got a cell phone! He just had to call me this morning and tell me.

=====

Think I better get going. Lots to do between now and Monday.

*gulp* am I really going to UCO on Monday?

That’s all from where I sit.

It’s really too hot to DO anything…

It’s supposed to get up to something like 103 today, but I don’t think it’s gonna make it. Last I checked, it was 98 degrees.

It’s not worth going out and working up a sweat.

We’re under a heat warning and everything. It’s not fit for man nor beast, as my dad used to say.

I’m going up to Mom’s in a little while so I can take her to get her license renewed tomorrow… after I go up to the food stamp office (I finally got to reschedule it! Only took two weeks!), UCO, and look at a couple of apartments.

Yeah, I know… I’m crazy to go out in the heat. But, it can’t be helped.

That’s all from where I sit.
